Loko iʻa workday at ʻAimakapā (Kona, Hawaiʻi)
May 11, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Mālama ‘Aimakapā Community Workday – Second Saturday of Every Month
We hope you can join us this Saturday as we put our hands to the ‘āina to mālama ‘Aimakapā.
Work at ‘Aimakapā Fishpond will begin at 8 AM and last until just before lunch. Please bring any food or snacks you may need to sustain you during the day. Plenty of cold water will be provided.
Please meet us at the Visitor Center at 8 AM for introductions and a safety briefing.
Because we are in the middle of our endangered waterbird nesting season, it’s possible we may not get into the pond for this workday depending on any new nests found. If this is the case, instead of getting muddy we will focus on pulling weeds in the dryland areas.
Close-toed shoes are required for work at the fishpond. If you have tabis please bring them. Also, sturdy thorn proof shoes are recommended as we may be working in and around kiawe thorns. A hat, sunscreen, long sleeve shirt and long pants are recommended. Water, tools, and gloves will be provided.
Please RSVP to jackson_letchworth@nps.gov if you plan to attend. Mahalo!
