Loko iʻa workday at ʻAimakapā (Kona, Hawaiʻi)

November 10, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

We hope you can join us this Saturday, November 10th, as we put our hands to the ‘āina to mālama ‘Aimakapā.

Note, this will be our last community workday of the year!  There will be no December workday, but we will be back to our normal schedule starting again in January.

Work at ‘Aimakapā Fishpond will begin at 8 AM and last until just before lunch.  Light snacks will be provided but please bring any extra food or snacks you may want.

Please meet us at the Visitor Center at 8 AM for introductions and a safety briefing.

For this workday, we plan to get in the pond and remove chunks of invasive grass.  Be prepared to get very very muddy!  For those who may not want to get in the pond, there are plenty of weeds to be removed from the dryland areas surrounding the south shore of the fishpond.

Close-toed shoes are required for work at the fishpond.  If you have tabis please bring them.  Also, sturdy thorn proof shoes are recommended as we may be working in and around kiawe thorns.  A hat, sunscreen, long sleeve shirt and long pants are recommended.  Water, tools, and gloves will be provided.

Please RSVP to jackson_letchworth@nps.gov if you plan to attend.  Mahalo!
