Please join us for our upcoming mālama ʻāina community workdays at Paʻaiau Fishpond, in honor of Earth Day!
WHAT: Paʻaiau Fishpond Workday
- Learn about this traditional Hawaiian fishpond (loko i`a) and the Native Hawaiian plant species/wildlife located in the Ahupuaʻa of Kalauao (District of ʻEwa).
- Participate in cleanup/restoration (tasks may include removing invasive vegetation, planting natives, trash pickup/removal)
- Wear/Bring: tabis or close-toed shoes required, water bottle, sun protection
WHEN: Saturday, April 27, 9:00 a.m. -12:00 noon (*light refreshments to follow)
WHERE: Loko I`a Paʻaiau (opposite of Forty Niner Diner on Kamehameha Hwy)
Access via McGrew Point Military Housing. Volunteer names must be on the list at the guard shack (please be prepared to show I.D.) Parking area is near the fishpond gate entrance. Please try to carpool if possible. *Space is limited.

This event is open to friends, families, community members and active duty military. For safety reasons, children under 8 yrs old must be accompanied by and adult. Volunteers will be asksd to sign waivers upon check-in.
Your kōkua will contribute to a multi-generational effort to reawaken Loko Paʻaiau and restore the history and richness which once sustained the surrounding areas of Puʻuloa, Kalauao and ʻAiea. We look forward to connecting with each of you!
